Businesses Should Blog

I’m on a train right now headed to San Diego to visit some family. Of course I overheard a man talking about his company and the fact that he was having a blog designed, but didn’t really now how it could benefit his business. Here is a small list of why businesses should be blogging:
- Blogs are the cheapest marketing on the planet
- …and the most far reaching. Take your business global for dirt cheap
- More traffic
- More repeat traffic
- Find new markets – blogs have the longest tails on the planet
- Google will love you
- Create dialog with your clients, between your clients
- Find hidden opportunities – see find new markets above
- Become an authority in your industry
- Blogging/writing about your business forces you to think about your business, target market, strategy, how to communicate on a global scale, branding, etc.
- Your articles and web pages can be emailed, bookmarked and passed around the net
- Adds a face and personality to the business
- Make your compnay live and breath on the internet
- Brand yourself/company
- Show your photos/music/art/products
- Share your company philosophy
- Challenges you to find news about your industry so that you can blog about something
- Blogging is just starting to catch on in the corporate world so you are actually ahead of the curve
- Take advantage of virtual word of mouth marketing
- It's easy
