World Alzheimer’s Day!

Research shows that more than 5 million people in the United States – and 26 million people worldwide – have Alzheimer’s. And experts predict that by 2050 the global prevalence of the disease will quadruple, affecting more than 100 million individuals.

World Alzheimer's Day

If you’ve ever had a friend or loved one affected by Alzheimer’s Disease you know that it can be a very sad, roller coaster of emotion for everyone involved. Unfortunately there is no cure for Alzheimer’s so I encourage everyone to help build awareness by hosting a Purple Party. Anyone can host a Purple Party! You can then register your party at actionalz.org and create your very own personal page so that you can help you spread awareness about World Alzheimer’s Dayand help raise donations to aid in finding a cure for Alzheimer’s Disease.

I hosted a Purple Party last weekend and I simply had my laptop on a table in a front room near the front door. I had my guest’s make donations by simply filling out a donation form I had set as my browser’s homepage. This worked great and I raised a few hundred dollars. If we all did this we could easily raise millions of dollars to fight this horrible disease. It’s going to take money and awareness and education. I learned some great tips from David Tutera’s Guide to World Alzheimers Day Purple Parties.
