Dynamic SEO Titles

Where do you begin when it comes to optimizing your site for search engines? There are numerous SEO adjustments to be made to your typical out-of-the-box blog theme. Of course we are all about simplicity around here so let’s focus on the single most important change you can make.
Make your titles dynamic. How do we do this? Well, it’s easier than it sounds.
Why is the title the most important SEO change you can make? Because people like titles & search engines like titles. We scan through those large blue search engine titles until we see one that sparks our interest, when we do, we then scan over the copy a bit and if we like what we see we click the tiltle. Search engines are also a lover of titles and we all love what the search engines love…. a good title.
It’s time to take control of your blog’s titles with the wonderful WordPress plugin SEO Title Tag 1.0 by Stephan Spencer.
This plugin allows you to use the titles of your post as the title for your page. I say allow because you can still choose to use your site’s name or set SEO Title Tag 1.0 to display your blog’s name before or after the title… we want the latter.
We all love our own company name, especially as entrepreneurs, but let’s face it, unless you are a house-hold name or a very well known corporation, no one will be searching your company name to find an article, product or service. You want to use the blog post’s title because hopefully, and it is up to you, it is your best description of the content at hand and it is loaded with keywords.
The SEO Title Tag 1.0 Features include:
- Allows you to override a page’s or a post’s title tag with a custom one defined through a custom field.
- Allows you to define a custom home page title through the Options -> SEO Title Tag page in the WordPress admin.
- Reverses the order of the blog name and the title (giving more keyword prominence to the title instead of the blog name). Or if you prefer, there’s a setting to drop the blog name altogether, or to replace it with a shorter nickname.
- For users of the UltimateTagWarrior plugin (which should be everybody!), incorporates the tag name into the title tag on “tag pages” (sorry for the confusing use of “tag” in two contexts here — as in tagging and HTML title tags).
- Uses a category’s description (if defined) as the title tag on category pages

All Finished
Wow, that wasn’t too difficult. Now you have dynamic titles on your website and can be assured that Google, Yahoo and the rest of the search engines will love your blog for it.
