Promote Yourself With Business Cards

I believe that using business cards is one of the most important steps you can take to network with people, promote your business, spread your brand and get your contact information out there. Also, not having business cards with you when you bump into, or meet with a potential client is a bad move towards your business’ success. Not only are you missing out on an opportunity to pass along your information, but not having a business card on your person makes you look unprofessional and unprepared.
Not all Business Cards are Created Equal
Having a business card on you at all times is a good step, but not just any card will do. To get the most out of your business card it is important to consider many factors in order for it to be effective:
- I suggest printing both sides of the card and it usually only costs a few extras dollars to do so. Add aMaximize your opportunity to network! Consider adding a small P.T.O (Please Turn Over) to the bottom front of the card. Now that you have their attention, add your company mission statement, a coupon or custom url pointing them to a special page on your website. Now your card is communicating and networking for you.
- Don’t print important business contact information too close to the edge. It’s perfectly fine to bleed images and graphic, but phone numbers, business names, email address, especially if printed in a small font. this info will disappear as the edges of the card crumble from being shoved in and out of a wallet for instance.
- Use at least a 12 point font. If you are designing the card at home, do a test print before you upload your design for FREE to a place like GreatFX Business Cards. This is one of the most common mistakes people make when creating their own card. Your card is useless if no one can read it.
- Keep it simple
Make your Business Card Stand Out
By stand out I do not mean using puffy letters or glitter. In fact I suggest against using any kind of raised lettering or shiny elements in general. Instead, if you want to impress, make sure that your card looks and feels professional. Use thicker card stock, great layout and fonts and colors that fit your industry. Don’t use a tech font if you have a landscaping business. If you’re not a design star GreatFX Business Cards can help you create a stunning and effective business card.
